Governor Wolf’s Advisory Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs
The Pennsylvania Governor’s Advisory Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs was created by Executive Order and consisted of 30 Commissioners who were appointed by Governor Tom Wolf. GACAPAA was responsible for advising Governor Wolf on policies, procedures and legislation that had an impact on the diverse Asian American and Pacific Islander communities in Pennsylvania. The Commission also served as a liaison to federal, state and local agencies to ensure that services affecting AAPIs were effectively utilized and promoted. It is a resource for community groups and provides forums for developing strategies and programs that expand and enhance the civic, social, education, cultural and economic status of AAPI communities.
From 2015-2019 Rob served on the Executive Committee of the Commission as Chair of the Pennsylvania AAPI Arts Collective, a subcommittee created to represent the interests of AAPI artists, musicians, theater artists, filmmakers, arts administrators, arts educators, and all other creatives who make their living through the arts. The Arts Collective advocated for increased opportunities for artists and seeks to implement programs facilitating better collaboration, resource sharing, and capacity building on behalf of all AAPI artists. We also worked to incorporate arts into the educational curriculum to benefit AAPI students as well as the general Commonwealth of PA. Rob also served as a member of the Commission’s Civil Rights Task Force and Schools that Teach (Education) subcommittees.
